Integrations Engineer

We’re looking for an Integrations Engineer to lead and scale our platform’s connectivity with key healthcare and scientific data systems.

As an Integrations Engineer, you’ll be at the heart of making Health Universe interoperable with the complex healthcare and research ecosystem. Your work will ensure that data scientists, clinicians, and administrators can seamlessly integrate and deploy AI-powered applications in real-world settings. If you have experience with Nest.js, FastAPI, HL7, FHIR, OAuth, and cloud-based integrations, and you’re excited about using AI to transform healthcare, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and implement integrations between Health Universe and EHRs, research databases, pharma data platforms, and other healthcare systems.

• Develop secure, scalable APIs using Nest.js and FastAPI to connect our cloud platform with external data sources and ML applications.

• Work closely with data scientists and engineers to ensure seamless data exchange between AI models and real-world healthcare workflows.

• Design and maintain OAuth and authentication mechanisms for secure access to third-party systems.

• Optimize data pipelines for performance, handling real-time and batch processing for AI-driven insights.

• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, GDPR, and other healthcare regulations to maintain patient privacy and security.

• Troubleshoot integration challenges and improve system observability, monitoring, and logging.

• Collaborate with product, engineering, and clinical teams to drive roadmap decisions related to platform integrations.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in API development, integrations, or backend engineering.

• Expertise in Nest.js and TypeScript, with a strong understanding of modular and scalable API architectures.

• Strong experience with FastAPI, Python, and Next.js for building backend and frontend services.

• Deep knowledge of OAuth 2.0, JWT, and authentication frameworks for secure third-party access.

• Experience working with FHIR, HL7, and other healthcare data standards.

• Familiarity with ETL pipelines, data warehousing, and real-time data processing.

• Strong understanding of cloud computing (AWS, GCP, or Azure), including serverless architectures and Kubernetes.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to navigate complex, regulated environments.

Desirable Qualifications

• Experience integrating with EHR systems (Epic, Cerner, etc.), pharma data platforms, or clinical research systems.

• Familiarity with AI/ML model deployment and inference APIs.

• Background in biomedical informatics, digital health, or healthcare technology.

• Understanding of asynchronous event-driven architectures (Kafka, Pub/Sub, etc.).

• Experience with GraphQL and gRPC for efficient data exchange.
